Job Description: Counselor/Mountain Bike Instructor
KC&E has been providing mountain bike camps and clinics throughout New England for nearly a decade. We offer camps for young riders aged 8 - 13 and clinics and private instruction for riders of all ages. Our programs are renowned for their safe, fun, and inclusive approach to teaching mountain biking/cycling.

  • As a Counselor/Mountain Bike Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to guide participants through KC&E’s skill development curriculum, ensuring both safety and adherence to best practices. In collaboration with the Camp Director and/or Lead Counselor, you will manage all facets of the program. This encompasses preparatory and concluding activities, participant check-in and sign-out, skill instruction, leading biking expeditions, and fostering meaningful connections with both participants and their families.

Prerequisites for applicants:
  • Enjoy cycling/proficient mountain biker
  • Previous experience as a camp counselor and/or experience working with children.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Completion of online and local in-person training.

Time commitment:
  • We are looking for staff to join us for as many sessions as possible, but we will still consider your application if you are only available for some sessions.
  • Spring Programs are the following days/dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5/7-6/13 (2:30pm-5:30pm), Fridays, 5/17-6/14 (11:30am-2:30pm)
  • Summer Camps are the following weeks: Week of 6/24 through the week of 7/29. Camps will run from 9am - 1pm and 12:30pm - 3pm respectively, on Monday-Friday except the week of July 4th, which will be Monday - Wednesday.
  • You will also be required to attend an in-person orientation training with your local camp manager.

What the role entails:
  • Reporting to the local lead counselor and camp manager.
  • Working with another member of the team to run all aspects of camp based on our curriculum, which includes
  • Teaching individual skills modules
  • Running games
  • Leading skills application rides
  • Assisting the lead counselor at check in every day
  • Setting up and cleaning up every day
  • Reporting to your lead counselor about any group changes that need to be made
  • Ensuring a SAFE and fun environment for all

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday for scheduled programming noted above, with Saturday/Sunday opportunities based on private guiding/instruction bookings
